Jody Ross is a certified Laughter Yoga Teacher and Life Coach, trained by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga. After more than fifteen years of disabling chronic fibromyalgia, low back pain, and mood disorder, she found complete healing through the practice of Laughter Yoga. In addition to presenting the benefits of laughter to conferences, leading Laughter Yoga sessions and training Laughter Yoga Leaders nationally, she facilitates the largest free Laughter Club in the United States, which Minnesota Monthly magazine named “One of the Best Yoga Classes.” She was a featured speaker at the 2012 Footprints of Disaster Conference, and hosted the first “Laugh-In at the State Capitol Rotunda” to raise awareness of the role of laughter in preventing illness and reducing health care costs. A forerunner in utilizing laughter with persons living with Alzheimer’s disease, photographs of her work are featured in the book, “Love, Loss, and Laughter: Seeing Alzheimer’s Disease Differently.” (Lions Press, 2012) Ms. Ross has a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications from Drexel University, and lives in Minneapolis.
This article written by Sheila Mulrooney Alred of the Minneapolis Star Tribune tells my story of the healing power of Laughter Yoga.
